Dawei Medical Supports 'Musculoskeletal Ultrasound in Theory and Practice Workshop
发布时间:2023-08-11 19:00

The third session of the "Musculoskeletal Ultrasound Theory and Practice Expert Workshop" was successfully held in Beijing on August 11th, with the support of the Continuing Education Committee of the Chinese Society of Biomedical Engineering, following the successful completion of the "Vascular and Cardiac Ultrasound Theory and Practice Expert Workshop" held in Beijing in late July earlier this year. The workshop spanned three days.

During the workshop, authoritative experts in the field of ultrasound were invited to provide lectures and facilitate Q&A sessions. The teaching approach remained comprehensive, combining theoretical instruction, hands-on practical training, and direct interaction with experts. Through this multifaceted approach, clinical ultrasound practitioners were equipped with practical and correct techniques, while also creating a platform for mutual exchange and learning among frontline clinical ultrasound practitioners.

On the first day of the teaching program, Dr. Zhang Huabin, the Director of the Ultrasound Department at Beijing Tsinghua Chang Gung Hospital, provided systematic instruction on the basics of musculoskeletal ultrasound diagnosis, ultrasound diagnosis of shoulder joint diseases, ultrasound diagnosis of elbow joint diseases, and ultrasound diagnosis of wrist joint diseases. Following the theoretical teaching, practical ultrasound demonstrations and exercises were conducted.

In the afternoon, Dr. Xue Heng, the Deputy Director of the Ultrasound Department at Beijing University Third Hospital, conducted practical demonstrations and provided guidance to the students. He demonstrated the fundamental requirements for performing ultrasound on shoulder, elbow, and wrist joints, common techniques, and how to address common issues. As students took turns to perform the ultrasound examinations, specific guidance was given to improve their techniques. Finally, a simple assessment was conducted, and feedback was provided based on the evaluation.

On the final day, Dr. Wang Yuexiang, the Deputy Director and Chief Physician of the Ultrasound Department at the First Medical Center of the Chinese People's Liberation Army General Hospital, provided instruction on the ultrasound diagnosis of hip joint diseases, knee joint diseases, and ankle joint diseases. After the lecture, practical ultrasound demonstrations were conducted.

In the afternoon of that day, Dr. Fu Shuai, the Deputy Director of the Ultrasound Department at Beijing University Third Hospital, carried out practical demonstrations and provided guidance to the students. He demonstrated the fundamental requirements for performing ultrasound on hip, knee, and ankle joints, common techniques, and how to address common issues. As students took turns to perform the ultrasound examinations, they received real-time guidance, and their operational issues were addressed to improve their techniques. Finally, an assessment was conducted, and evaluations were provided to the students.

Musculoskeletal ultrasound is an ultrasound diagnostic technique applied to the musculoskeletal system. It differs from traditional and commonly used ultrasound applications in areas such as abdominal, cardiac, and obstetric/gynecologic ultrasound. After more than forty years of continuous development, musculoskeletal ultrasound has become one of the major clinical imaging diagnostic techniques in the musculoskeletal system, alongside X-rays, CT scans, and MRI.

This technique finds widespread application in various specialized fields, including orthopedic surgery, rheumatology, rehabilitation medicine, neurosurgery, and traditional Chinese medicine. Some of its advantages include real-time dynamic imaging, no specific contraindications, no radiation exposure, and the ability to examine multiple joints in a single session.

In China, the practice of musculoskeletal ultrasound started relatively late compared to Europe and the United States. It had a weaker foundation, leading to more challenges and difficulties faced by ultrasound practitioners in this field.

In order to meet the growing demand for medical technology, Dawei Medical has systematically summarized its practical experience, continuously overcome technical challenges, and introduced safer, more precise, and more efficient musculoskeletal ultrasound technology. This technology serves as the "third eye" for anesthesiologists, reshaping the new standard for musculoskeletal ultrasound.
